Five Generations of Family Tailoring
Samuel Redmayne established his tailoring workroom in Wigton in 1868, but that wasn't when he started tailoring; Samuel tailored in Manchester at least 7 years earlier. It was assumed that Redmayne's tailoring buisiness in Manchester was badly affected by the American Wars of Independance and the lack of cotton - maybe not! What is certain is that Samuel's move to Cumbria was at a propitious time; in 1867 the Reform Act gave the the vote to almost all working men, and being well dressed must have become a desirable expression of this new respectability. This radical change in the way Redmayne's did business was echoed in 1933 when we started the copying service - our answer to the Great Depression. 2009 presents no less a challenge to offering our tailoring service in a more radical way, albeit deliberate change takes a little planning ..... more on this later in the year!
With a world-wide clientele, we blend our friendly approach firmly to traditional tailoring values.
The comfort gained from wearing hand canvassed garments has to be experienced to be believed, so when comparing tailoring services be sure that you are comparing on a like for like basis. Here at Redmayne we have three different pricing points, apart from our special offer and promotion deals. These pricing points are split into different methods of make.
We offer free advice to help you create the image you want to influence others in your business and social life. Redmayne's practical approach to tailoring gives you the finest work available at direct from our workroom prices - traditional tailoring lasts longer and offers great value, whatever your needs.
I look forward to hearing from you, best regards, Michael Wigglesworth.
